Mainframe Preferences Page

The Mainframe page of the Preferences dialog box allows users to customize the JCL for execution of specifications on the mainframe. This functionality applies only to a File-AID/EX extract and load.

To set DevX Data Studio preferences

  1. From the Window menu, select Preferences. The Preferences dialog box appears.
  2. Select BMC > DevX Data Studio > Runtime > Mainframe. The Mainframe page appears showing the JCL job card's current mainframe runtime preferences and the dataset high level qualifier to be used.
  3. Do any of the following:
    1. In the JCL Jobcard section, edit the JCL job card to reflect the appropriate specification execution information.
    2. In the Dataset High Level Qualifier field, enter the dataset high level qualifier prefix to be used.
    3. In the File-AID RDX Temporary Dataset Options section, specify a prefix and/or suffix to be used for the temporary datasets that File-AID/RDX creates during execution. Note the following:
      • Each qualifier must begin with an alphabetic character or the special character @, #, or $. The remaining characters in each qualifier can be alphabetic (A-Z), special, or numeric (0 to 9) character.
      • If both a prefix and a suffix are passed, the combined length of the two cannot exceed 18 byte.
      • If only a prefix is passed, the prefix can be 19 byte.
      • If only a suffix is passed, the suffix can be 18 minus the length of the userid = 11 (assuming that the userid is 7 characters in length).
    4.  To override the default settings for FARE and File-AID Services that are configured in File-AID/RDX, use the File-AID Services and Rules Engine Overrides section. Select the check boxes to indicate the override settings to use in place of the default settings.
The five overrides are as follows:
      • FADEBUG - Logging information for the File-AID Rules Engine
      • FAEXPATH - Path for File-AID Rules Engine location
      • FAIPADDR - File-AID Services IP address and execution port
      • FAJOPTS - Java options for the File-AID Rules Engine
      • FAJPATH - z/OS UNIX path for the Java Virtual Machine

These settings are passed to File-AID/RDX during execution.

   4. Click OK.
