Reference and Preferences


Most of the File-AID Data Editor icons that represent functions you can invoke are displayed in the toolbar near the top of Workbench for Eclipse.
Access to File-AID Data Editor Preferences is via the Workbench for Eclipse menu access: Window > Preferences >BMC > File-AID Data Editor.

Highlighting Colors

Various color highlighting is used in the Data Display.

Cursor Coloring

  • When entry mode is Insert, the cursor color is yellow.
  • When entry mode is Overwrite, the cursor color is blue.

User-Customizable Colors

  • The colors used for the following user interface items can be customized using Window>Preferences>General>Appearance>Colors and Fonts>File-AID Data Editor. See Eclipse Preferences for Colors and Fonts.
  • Key and IMS segment length field background color: Background color used to highlight key and IMS segment length fields. IMS key and segment length fields are protected. The default color is violet.
  • Key and IMS segment length field foreground color: Foreground color used to highlight key and IMS segment length fields. IMS key and segment length fields are protected. The default color is black. 

    Important

    In general, you may not edit keys of existing records, but you may change keys of records in pending insert status. For IMS, you may not edit the key of a segment unless you access the IMS Modify Key dialog by clicking on the concatenated key link in the data display of a segment that is in pending insert status. For more information, see IMS Modify Key.

  • Unformatted Editor non-editable character background color: Background color used to highlight non-editable characters in the unformatted editor. The default color is red.
  • Unformatted Editor non-editable character foreground color: Foreground color used to highlight non-editable characters in the unformatted editor. The default color is white.
  • Unformatted Editor ruler cursor highlight color: Color used to highlight the current cursor location in the ruler line of the unformatted editor. The default color is gray.
  • Unformatted Editor ruler field highlight color: Color used to highlight the current field boundary in the ruler line of the unformatted editor. The default color is green.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
