Getting Started with File-AID/Eclipse

File-AID/Eclipse includes File-AID Data Editor, File-AID Search/Update, File-AID Compare, and File-AID for IMS Visualizer.
File-AID Data Editor provides a single user interface that allows users to manage z/OS data stored in DB2, IMS, z/OS datasets, or z/OS UNIX files from a PC without having to access the "green screen".
File-AID/Eclipse supports browse and edit of VSAM KSDS, ESDS, and IAM data sets. See the Planning section of the File-AID installation and configuration guide for the specific fixes required to enable IAM support.
For Workbench for Eclipse users with an Data Studio license, File-AID Data Editor also provides navigation, browse, and edit of tables and views in the following distributed Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS):

  • DB2 LUW
  • SQL Server
  • Oracle
  • Sybase

File-AID Search/Update lets users perform basic text-based searches and global updates as well as advanced searches/updates through z/OS PDS/PDSE, sequential, and VSAM dataset contents.
File-AID Compare provides the ability to compare VSAM and sequential datasets and records, with or without layouts. Compare results are provided in graphical and tabular formats, making it fast and easy to find additions, deletions, and changes in your mainframe files.
File-AID for IMS Visualizer provides a graphical representation of the hierarchical structure of an IMS database. This gives the user a better understanding of the database and all its properties.
