Login Dialog Box
The Login dialog box is used to enter your login credentials for either of the following:
- The system to which you want to connect and the HCI connection associated with that system
- The database to which you want to connect
To log in to a system
Right-click the appropriate host in the Host Explorer navigation tree and select Login.
Depending on the credential provider, do one of the following:
- If the selected host's credentials are provided by 509 certificates (Smart Card), select the certificate to use from the Select Client Certificate dialog box.
- If the selected host's credentials are provided by user ID and password, in the Login dialog box, enter the mainframe user ID and password in the appropriate fields. If desired, do any of the following:
Select the Save credentials check box if you want Host Explorer to remember this user ID and password for future logins to this host.
- In the Group ID field, if your user ID is defined to RACF, enter the RACF group ID.
- In the Host code page field, select the desired code page to be used for this connection. The code page is used to translate data sent to and from the host. The default is 1047.
- Toggle open Change Password and enter then confirm the new password.
- Click OK. Host Explorer establishes a mainframe connection.
To log in to a database
As an optional, licensed feature or when File-AID Services is defined in your preferences, may you see Database hosts. These defined Database hosts appear as a host in the Host Explorer view.
- In the Host Explorer navigation tree, right-click the appropriate database and click Login.
- In the Login dialog box, enter the database user ID and password in the appropriate fields.
- If desired, do any of the following:
- Select the Save credentials check box if you want Host Explorer to remember this user ID and password for future logins to this database.
- Select the Windows Authentication check box if you are logging into a SQL Server database that only allows Windows Authentication. When selected, Windows authentication uses your local Windows credentials for local JDBC connections and, for JDBC connections defined in File-AID Services, uses the File-AID Services account. Credentials used by File-AID Services may be set in the Log On tab of the properties of the service running on the server machine.
- Click OK. Host Explorer establishes a database connection.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
