Create a New Source Data Identifier from Metadata

In addition to creating source data identifiers manually, you can create a source data identifier from the metadata when you are viewing the coverage detail.

For information on how to create a source data identifier manually, or for information on how to edit the source data identifier you create, see Create-a-New-Source-Data-Identifier or this section.

To create a new source data identifier using existing metadata:

Important

An alternate way to create a source data identifier if you have metadata available, is to select the Coverage tab, and then click View Coverage. Then switch to the Data Elements tab, select the desired data element and drag your metadata to the Source Data Identifiers area.

  1. Select and open the desired repository and project from the Rules Explorer view.
  2. Select the Coverage tab and the desired metadata.
  3. Click View Coverage. After processing, a view will open showing the detail from the selected metadata.
  4. Select the Data Elements tab for the open project. The Data Elements view appears.
  5. Select the data element that you want to create the source data identifier for.

    Important

A data element must be created and selected before a source data identifier can be created for it.

  6. From the Coverage view, select the desired metadata, and drag it to the Source Source Data Identifiers area of the Data Elements tab.
  7. Select the new source data identifier and click Edit.
  8. Click Next to browse through the source data identifier to ensure that everything is set the way you want it.
