Create a New Rule Variable
Rule variables are created on the Rules tab, and allow you to store or accumulate values in a work field.
To create a new rule variable:
- Open the desired repository and project.
- Click the Rules tab. The Rules view appears listing all of the rules currently available for this project.
- Select the desired rule.
- In the Variables portion of the screen, click Add. The New Variable dialog box appears.
- Enter a Name for your variable. The name must be a valid Java identifier name. This means that the name must start with a valid alphabetic character. That can be followed by letters, numbers, or an underscore.
- Optionally, select the option to reset the variable for every source record read.
- Choose a variable Type. Choices include String, Number, String List, or Number List.
- Choose a variable scope. Choices include Private or Public.
Enter an Initial Value for your variable.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
