Performance
It always helps to improve the performance by providing more Java memory if it is possible. There are two ways to do this:
- Edit the topaz.ini file in your installation directory of Workbench for Eclipse (by default the path is C:\Program Files\BMC\Workbench\eclipse):
- Find the entries:
-Xms256m
-Xmx2048m - Change them to:
-Xms512m
-Xmx3072m
This change increases the amount of memory available to the Workbench for Eclipse and Total Test.
When working with very large data structures, change the setting to:
-Xms2048m
-Xmx4096m - Save the topaz.ini file and restart Workbench for Eclipse.
- Find the entries:
- Alternatively, you can create a Windows shortcut to override the memory values specified in the topaz.ini file without making changes to the executable file:
- Right-click the topaz.exe file in your installation directory of Workbench for Eclipse (by default the path is C:\Program Files\BMC\Workbench\eclipse).
- Select Create Shortcut.
- Click Yes in the pop-up to create the shortcut on the desktop.
- Go to your desktop.
- Right-click the newly created shortcut icon.
- Select Properties.
- In the Target field of the Shortcut tab, add the following memory parameters to the end of the entry, for example:
C:\Program Files\BMC\Workbench\eclipse\topaz.exe -vmargs -Xms512m -Xmx3072m - Click OK.
Double-click the shortcut to start Workbench for Eclipse with the new memory parameter values.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
