Upgrading

Upgrading from version 1.4.1 or 2.0.0 to 17.02.00 is not an upgrade, but a new install using ECC Release 17.02.00 with all current maintenance applied. To update the z/OS Agent modules to 17.02.00 after the successful SMP/E installation of ECC, follow the instructions in this document.
A current installation of 1.4.1 or 2.0.0 will have modifications to the JCL skeletons and procedures and therefore the 17.02.00 should be installed in separate data sets, avoiding overwriting the modified 1.4.1 or 2.0.0 data sets. After installing the 17.02.00 data sets, the JCL skeletons and procedures can be modified to have the same changes as the 1.4.1 or 2.0.0 installation.
For the easiest upgrade to 17.02.00, perform the following steps:

  1. Install 17.02.00 in new data sets.
  2. Migrate changes to the JCL skeletons and procedures from 1.4.1 or 2.0.0 to 17.02.00.

    Tip

Make sure that the high level qualifiers point to the new library and follow the instructions in section Configuration to:

    • Update the CICS region to point to the latest Functional Test mainframe library
    • Reconfigure the definition of CSD for CICS
    • Update and deploy the Xatz Parmlib configuration
  3. Start the 17.02.00 agent and make sure that “Test connection” from the web client reports successfully back and that you can execute a CICS component and submit a job from a test case.
  4. Continue with 2 and 3 until the Test connection reports successfully.

See the detailed checklist in section Installing-z-OS-Agent.
