Application relationships - Db2 driving object


Option 1, Relationships, enables you to browse, edit, create, and delete user-defined application relationships from the relationship file. Use options Add AR, Browse ALL, and/or Edit AR or the line commands A (Add AR), B (Browse), or E (Edit AR) to manipulate application relationships in the relationship file.

In this section, you will learn how to add a user-defined application relationship to the relationship file by establishing new column relationships. You also will view the new relationships you added to the file. To illustrate the Application Relationship function, you will:

  • Create a relationship between the parent table CUSTOMER_TABLE and the dependent table ORDER_TABLE.
  • Establish the relationship between the CUSTOMER_NUMBER parent column and the CUST_NUM dependent column.
  • Create an additional relationship between the parent table SUPPLIER_TABLE and the dependent MVS object SUPPLIER.
  • Establish the relationship between the PART_NUMBER parent Db2 column and the PART-NUMBER dependent MVS field.
  • Create an additional relationship between the parent table CUSTOMER_TABLE and the dependent external IMS database PCUST.
  • Establish the relationship between the CUSTOMER_NUMBER parent Db2 column and the CUST010 dependent root segment.
  • Delete the relationship between the parent table CUSTOMER_TABLE and the dependent external IMS database PCUST.
