Allocating a cluster

You can use Allocate cluster option (AK-AB) to allocate new VSAM clusters and IAM data sets online or in batch. All VSAM data set types (KSDS, JSON, BSON, ESDS, RRDS, LINEAR, and zFS) are supported.

To allocate a cluster

Perform the following steps on the VSAM Utility panel.

  1. In the Option field, enter AK.
  2. In the Dataset name field in the Specify Dataset Information area, enter FASAMP.EMPLOYE1.
  3. In the Processing Option field, enter B  to request batch and IDCAMS processing.
  4. In the Dataset name field in the Specify Model Dataset Information area, enter FASAMP.EMPLOYEE.
  5. Press Enter.

File-AID displays the Allocate New VSAM Cluster screen as illustrated in Allocate New VSAM Cluster Screen.
