Functions and modifiers
This section discusses the File-AID/Batch functions and how to append modifiers to functions. Brief descriptions of each function and modifier are discussed in Functions and Modifier Descriptions.
Selection Criteria
Selection criteria can be used in conjunction with most functions. We recommend that you create your selection criteria via the online screens as some parameters may be incompatible with others or may need to be in conjunction with other parameters to function properly. Save your online selection criteria in a member so you can reference the selection criteria member in your batch program. See Selection-Criteria-function of the Getting-started-with-BMC-AMI-DevX-File-AID-MVS-online-options for further information.
Abbreviations
To save time, you can abbreviate functions on control cards. The following table shows the abbreviation for each function and its applicable modifiers.
