The VERSION command sets the PDS version number for a PDS member.

The command is available in the Edit function in Character and Vertical Format mode.

number

Specifies the PDS version number when a PDS member is edited. The number parameter is required. The STATS option is automatically set ON if it was OFF prior to using the command.

The number parameter must be an integer between 1 and 99 or the message: INVALID VERSION NUMBER is displayed. Using the VERSION command without a parameter produces the message: ENTER VERSION.

The PDS version number is automatically incremented by File-AID if the level number reaches 99 and an additional modification is performed.

Guidelines

The VERSION command is only valid for PDSs. If you enter the VERSION command while editing a non-partitioned data set, the message: VERSION IS INVALID is displayed and the command is ignored. See LEVEL (LEV) for more information on entering a value for the PDS modification level.
