Execution options

The Execution Options screen is displayed when you enter AC, or U in the Specify Output Processing Option field on the Output Specification screen. It allows you to give File-AID/Data Solutions specific instructions on how to execute the changes, and whether to save your criteria or not. If you are saving your criteria, you provide the change criteria dataset name, member, and optional descriptions.

The following figure is an example of the Execution Options screen.

Field Descriptions

Specify Execution Options:

Process online or batch

Specify a processing value: O (Online) or B (Batch). The default is initially set to Online. See Online Processing and Batch Processing .

Important

If you have specified Audit Trail option A (see Create audit trail), Data Solutions will force Batch job processing, even when you specify Online here.

Maximum invalid fields

Specify the number of invalid fields to allow File-AID/Data Solutions to discard (skip) before cancelling the change process. Possible values are any number from 0 (zero) through 999999 or ALL. The default for this parameter is ALL. 0 (zero) or ALL processes the entire file and discards (skips) all invalid fields. If 1 (one) is specified, Data Solutions stops when it encounters the first invalid field.

Display invalid fields

Specify whether you want invalid fields listed on the output log. Valid entries are Y (Yes) or N (No). The default is Y (Yes).

Maximum changes

Specify a number to limit the number of changes that File-AID/Data Solutions makes or provides for preview (Update only). The ALL (default) or 0 value enables Data Solutions to preview or make all changes.

In Update -- When preview and confirm update is set to Y (Yes), the Maximum changes value limits the number of changes shown in the preview. The Confirm Update screen does allow you to modify the Maximum changes value for the actual update.

In Copy -- When Maximum Changes is reached, the Copy function stops and the remaining records are not copied from the input file.

Important

This option controls the actual number of changes not the number of records changed.

Preview and confirm update

Specify Y (Yes—Default) to display the Preview Changes with ISPF Browse screen for online processing. When this field is set to N (No), File-AID/Data Solutions does the update without displaying the preview screen. (This field appears on the Update Execution Options screen only.)

Specify Change Criteria Information:

Save change criteria

Specify whether you want to save the change criteria, Y (Yes) or N (No).

Change criteria dataset

Specify the name of a cataloged partitioned dataset with attributes of RECFM=VB and a minimum LRECL=300. Use the naming conventions described in Specifying a Data set Name .

You can enter a pattern data set name in this field to display a list of data sets from which you can make a selection. A pattern data set name or mask consists of explicit characters or a combination of explicit and pattern characters. See Pattern data set names for a complete description.

Important

It is highly recommended you use separate criteria data sets for disguise criteria created through the File-AID/RDX interface and name them in such a way as to easily recognize them as File-AID/RDX disguise criteria data sets. As the layout information for the File-AID/RDX extract object may be different from the information you would provide with the stand-alone File-AID/Data Solutions, the disguise process may not produce valid and repeatable results if you edited the File-AID/RDX disguise criteria rules with the stand-alone File-AID/Data Solutions criteria function.

Member name

Specify the member name. You can leave this field blank or enter a pattern member name to display a list of members from which you can make a selection. A pattern member name or mask consists of explicit characters or a combination of explicit and pattern characters. See Pattern Member Names for a complete description. Pattern names cannot be entered in both the Dataset name and Member name fields at the same time.

Member description

Specify a 30-byte description of the change criteria. This description is displayed on the member list screen, which allows you to identify the criteria specified in this member.

Long description

Specify a longer change criteria member description, up to 62 characters. This information is stored in the change criteria member.

Primary commands

The following primary commands are valid on the Execution Options screen:

Command

Description

CANCEL

Returns to Input Specification panel without saving criteria information.

END

Returns to Output Specification panel.

ENTER

Executes the copy or update.

VIEW

Displays the View Criteria screen, which summarizes the options and change criteria sets into a scrollable display. For more information, see View Criteria.

Saving change criteria

The Save change criteria field identifies where the criteria is to be saved. For more information, see Saving Change Criteria Information.
