Criteria menu


File-AID/Data Solutions displays the Criteria menu when you press END after completing a Data Solutions function. This menu allows you to perform additional functions on the input data set without returning back to the Primary Option Menu. The options that appear on this menu are similar to those on the Primary Option menu; refer to the section describing the specific function for more information.

When you are finished modifying your selection, press <Enter> to specify output formatting. See Output Specification

Field descriptions

OPTION

Specify one of the Data Solutions functions.

Status

Displays the status of the various types of criteria associated with the criteria data set and member listed on the top line of this screen:

OPTIONS

Reports whether the default selection options have been modified. Valid values are default or not default.

n fields

Displays the number of global variable fields that have been defined for the current criteria. These user defined variables are available for use by any of the sets within the criteria.

n sets

Displays the number of sets of criteria that are specified. A set of selection criteria is defined as a single expression that can lead to the selection of a record. A set may test for one condition or several conditions. The conditions can be ANDed together and several conditions separated by commas create nested OR conditions within a set.

Member list description

Specify a 30-byte description of the criteria. This description is stored in the member and is displayed on the member list screen, allowing you to identify the criteria specified in this member.

Long description

Specify a longer change criteria description, up to 62 characters. This information is stored in the change criteria member.

Primary commands

The following table lists the valid primary commands on the Criteria Menu, and the process that occurs when any option other than S (Criteria) was entered from the Primary Option Menu:

CANCEL

Returns to the Input Dataset Specification screen without saving any criteria information.

END

Returns to the Input Dataset Specification screen without saving any criteria information.

ENTER

Displays the Output Specification screen.

SAVE

The Change Criteria - Dataset Specification screen is displayed, which allows you to specify the location and/or criteria names. For more information, see Saving Change Criteria Information.

VIEW

Displays the View Criteria screen, which summarizes the global variables, options, and criteria sets into a scrollable display.
