Creating data disguise control and criteria files
Overview
This section introduces you to the File-AID for IMS Utilities for Disguise files that allow you to allocate the Disguise Control and Disguise Criteria files you need in support of the data disguise function for extracted files.
To illustrate the File-AID for IMSutilities for Disguise, you will:
- Allocate a Data Disguise Control File
- Allocate a Data Disguise Criteria File

Allocating Data Disguise Control and Criteria Files
Step 1—Allocating the Data Disguise Control File
File-AID for IMS displays the following figure when you select Option 8, Data Privacy, from the File-AID for IMS Primary Option Menu.

Field Names and Descriptions
You can select the following options from the Utilities for Disguise Files on the Data Disguise Menu (Option 8).
OPTION | DESCRIPTION |

4 - Control | Displays the “Allocate Disguise Control File” screen where you can allocate a new disguise control file. The File-AID for IMS disguise control file is the repository that keeps track of all defined disguise criteria for File-AID for IMS extracts. |
5 - Criteria | Displays the “Allocate Disguise Criteria File” screen where you can allocate a new disguise criteria file. This file is maintained by File-AID/Data Solutions and is the repository for all disguise criteria for File-AID for IMS extracts. |
6 - Print Control | Displays the “Print Disguise Control File” screen where you control the printing of the disguise control file. |
A - Print Audit | Displays the “Print Disguise Audit Trail” screen where you control the printing of the disguise audit trail information for a disguised object. |
Step 2—Specifying the Disguise Control File Allocation Parameters
File-AID for IMS displays the following figure when you enter Option 4, Control, in the Data Disguise Menu (Option 8).
Enter the required allocation parameters as to your site’s requirements.

Cluster | Type the name for the VSAM cluster, for example, FISAMP.DISGUISE. |
Data Component LLQ | Type the low level qualifier for the data component of the VSAM cluster, by default, DATA. |
Index Component LLQ | Type the low level qualifier for the index component of the VSAM cluster, by default, INDEX. |
In all remaining fields… | Review the values and fill according to your site’s specifications for VSAM files. |
Press Enter | File-AID for IMS displays a “File Created” message. |
Press PF3 (or type END and press Enter) | File-AID for IMS redisplays the Data Disguise Menu screen. |
Field Names and Descriptions
The following list describes the additional fields displayed in Detail mode:
FIELD | DESCRIPTION |

Cluster | Specify the name of the VSAM cluster for the Disguise Control file to be allocated. If you don’t use quotes around the name, File-AID for IMS will add your TSO ID as the prefix. |
Data Component LLQ | Low level qualifier for the data component. You may overtype this field, if your installation uses a different data component LLQ. |
Index Component LLQ | Low level qualifier for the index component. You may overtype this field, if your installation uses a different index component LLQ. |
Data Component | Displays the name of the data component as it will be allocated. It reflects the new cluster name and low level qualifier after you press Enter. |
Index Component | Displays the name of the index component as it will be allocated. It reflects the new cluster name and low level qualifier after you press Enter. |
Storage | Specify the SMS storage class to use for the allocation of the file. The storage class describes the hardware requirements of the file. |
Data | Specify the SMS data class to use for the allocation of the file. The data class describes the attributes of the file such as RECORG, KEYLEN, KEYOFF, SPACE, etc. |
Management | Specify the SMS management class to use for the allocation of the file. The management class describes the migration, backup, and retention for the file. |
Volume Serial | Specify the volume serial of the direct access device to contain the file. |
Space Units | Specify one of the following storage unit types depending on how size is to be expressed: TRK - Tracks |
Primary QTY | Specify the primary allocation quantity as specified in the space units field. |
Secondary QTY | Specify the secondary allocation quantity as specified in the space units field. |

File name | Type the name for the criteria file, for example, FISAMP.DISGCRIT. |
In all remaining fields… | Review the values and fill according to your site’s specifications for VSAM files. The Record Format, Record Length, and Block Size are supplied by File-AID for IMS and cannot be changed. |
Press Enter | File-AID for IMSdisplays a “File Created” message. |
Press PF3 (or Type END and press Enter) | File-AID for IMSredisplays the Data Disguise Menu screen. Now that the data disguise control and criteria files have been allocated, you can continue with Option 8, Data Privacy (see Defining-data-disguise-criteria). |
Press PF3 (or type END and press Enter) | File-AID for IMS exits the Data Disguise Menu screen. |
Field Names and Descriptions
The following list describes the fields on this screen.

File Name | Displays the name of the file to be allocated. |
Management Class | Specify the SMS management class to use for the allocation of the file. The management class describes the migration, backup, and retention for the file. |
Storage Class | Specify the SMS storage class to use for the allocation of the file. The storage class describes the hardware requirements of the file. |
Generic Unit | Indicates the device type on which the new file will reside. |
Volume Serial | Specify the volume serial of the direct access device to contain the file. |
Data Class | Specify the SMS data class to use for the allocation of the file. The data class describes the attributes of the file such as RECORG, KEYLEN, KEYOFF, SPACE, etc. |
Space Units | Indicates whether the file is to be allocated using blocks (BLK), tracks (TRK), or cylinders (CYL). |
Primary quantity | Specify the primary allocation quantity as specified in the space units field. |
Secondary quantity | Specify the secondary allocation quantity as specified in the space units field. |
Directory blk | For a PDS, specify the number of directory blocks. For a Sequential file, specify zero (0). |
Record format | Protected field, must be VB. |
Record length | Protected field, must be 300. |
Block size | Protected field, must be 27998. |
