Batch processing in extract option
Batch table extract to a data set
The batch processing mode is initiated for a table extract when you enter 2 for batch mode in the PROCESSING MODE field. The extract selection process is the same as for online processing. The following screens are presented:
- Extract Selection Template (Extract Selection Template) to select the columns to be extracted.
- Extract Table (Extract Table Screen) to specify extract, control card, and record layout datasets.
- Extract Dataset Allocation (Extract Dataset Allocation Screen) to specify space and DCB attributes for the extract dataset if it is a new data set.
- Control Card Dataset Allocation (Control Card Dataset Allocation Screen) to specify space and DCB attributes for the control card dataset if it is a new data set.
- Record Layout Dataset Allocation (Record Layout Dataset Allocation Screen) to specify space and DCB attributes for the record layout dataset if it is a new data set.
File-AID for Db2 generates a temporary JCL data set which is presented on an Edit screen. Modify it as necessary, then submit the job to process the extract.
Redirect File-AID/Data Solutions Report (Data Disguise with DCF only)
When using a Disguise Control File (DCF) to disguise extracted data, you can choose to redirect the disguise report output produced by File-AID/Data Solutions to FADSPRNT DD by simply adding it to the JCL. The FADSPRNT DD can point at a file or at SYSOUT.
Since the use of FADSPRNT splits the File-AID/Data Solutions report output away from the File-AID for Db2 report output, FADSPRNT and SYSPRINT must be looked at together to get a complete picture of the job.
Batch table extract to tape
Table extract to tape uses the same procedure as Batch Table Extract to a Data set with one major exception:
On the Extract Dataset Allocation screen (Extract Dataset Allocation Screen) you specify the site specific valid tape unit in the GENERIC UNIT field. The initial default value is CART.
