ALT (ALTER SQL or Db2 Command)

The ALT row command generates ALTER SQL statements to alter objects or -ALTER BUFFERPOOL Db2 command statements. This command is valid for bufferpools, databases, indexes, sequence objects, storage groups, stored procedures, tables, and tablespaces.

When executed in a valid object display, File-AID for Db2 Object Administration opens object editing windows in which you can define the changes to the object. See Object Editing Windows.

Important

Use the DR row command to delete components of the foreign keys and primary keys. Use the DROP primary command to delete foreign keys or primary keys. This generates ALTER DROP statements. The D row command cannot be used to delete foreign keys or primary keys.

Use the CALC primary command to calculate new space requirements; File-AID for Db2 Object Administration transfers the result to your windows. See CALC (Space Calculate).

When you finish editing the object’s attributes, press <Go> to generate the SQL.

When ALT is executed on a bufferpool, it generates -ALTER BUFFERPOOL Db2 command statements. The generated Db2 command statements are placed in the Db2 command buffer.
