FREEZE (Freeze Column)

The FREEZE primary command selects columns to be excluded from column scrolling. Columns can still be scrolled vertically. Use the cursor to point to the column to freeze. Columns that you select for freezing are shifted to the left.

If you don’t select a column to freeze, the Column List window opens. In the Column List window, you can execute additional display-related commands. See Using the Column List Window.

Use the RESET primary command to release (thaw) the column; see RESET-Reset-Window-or-Keys. FREEZE is assigned to PF17 as a default.

Warning

Important

The profile variable MAX FROZEN LENGTH controls the automatic unfreezing of all columns when the total column length of all frozen columns exceeds the maximum frozen length. A MAX FROZEN LENGTH value of 0 (zero) disables the automatic unfreezing. Refer to MAX FROZEN LENGTH for a description of this profile value.
