DSN (Change View Profile)

The DSN primary command selects a new Db2 view profile. A view profile specifies the Db2 subsystem for your File-AID for Db2 Object Administration operations. See Connecting to Db2 Subsystems for detailed information about view profiles.

If you know the name of the profile, you can specify it as a parameter. If you do not know the name of the profile, or which profiles are available to you, execute DSN without a parameter to open a Db2 profile selection list window. Select a Db2 system explicitly (with the S row command) or implicitly (using the cursor).

Changing the subsystem with the DSN command makes these changes to your current session:

  • The bottom border of the current window changes to reflect the new view profile.
  • Subsequent windows in that path contain data from your selected subsystem.

The contents of the current window do not refresh. For example, if you execute the DSN command in an object display window, it does not refresh the object display with the data from the new subsystem.

If you intend to compare data from different subsystems, you can execute the MENU primary command before executing DSN. The menu will clearly delineate between the two subsystems and the bottom border will always reflect the source of the window’s contents.
