Parameters and parameter windows

A few commands require a parameter to be entered at the same time. For example, the ROW command (which scrolls the window data) requires that you enter a row number as a parameter. Most commands have defaults.

When you execute a command without a parameter, File-AID for Db2 Object Administration checks to see if a parameter is required. If the command requires a parameter, a window opens prompting you for the parameter values. The parameter window does not open if File-AID for Db2 Object Administration can use defaults.

Another type of parameter window opens when you execute a command that supports SQL, Db2 commands, and DSN subcommands. In this parameter window, File-AID for Db2 Object Administration provides defaults to be used to generate the commands or statements. Edit these parameters before pressing <Go>.

Db2-related parameters are not documented in this space. However, each parameter field has a Help window available that provides the information you need, including all valid keywords.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
