Notation rules
Syntax diagrams define primary command syntax.
A parameter is either a keyword or a variable.
All KEYWORDs are shown in uppercase characters and must be spelled exactly as shown. You cannot substitute another value. If any part of a KEYWORD is shown in lowercase characters, that part is optional.
Variables are user-specified values and are printed in lowercase italics. For example, dataset-name indicates you are to substitute a value.
Product Architecture
File-AID products are made up of a number of components accessible from either a standard terminal or from Workbench for Eclipse and Workbench for VS Code, an Eclipse-based modernized user interface.
We recommend a single SMP/E instance of File-AID (all FMIDs) to ensure maintenance compatibilities across all FMIDs, particularly File-AID Common Components.
File-AID Architecture

During the SMP/E installation, the majority of the elements for all File-AID products (File-AID/MVS, File-AID/Data Solutions, File-AID for Db2, File-AID for IMS and File-AID/RDX) are installed into the BMC AMI DevX File-AID Common Components FMID. Only a few products specific elements, that allow a product to execute, are included in the individual products FMID.
Installing multiple instances of File-AID requires separate SMP/E zones, resulting in duplicated maintenance. Multiple instances will also require multiple HCI Ports when configuring Workbench for Eclipse and Workbench for VS Code.
Different versions (that is, 23.01, 21.1, and 17.2) cannot be combined in a single HCI configuration.
