Performing a silent install, uninstall, and maintenance application
InstallAnywhere Silent Install allows automated electronic software distribution, also known as silent setup. With InstallAnywhere Silent Install there is no need for a user to monitor the setup and provide input via dialog boxes. An InstallAnywhere Silent Install setup runs on its own, with minimal end-user intervention. Using InstallAnywhere Silent Install, users can install or uninstall DevEnterprise and apply maintenance.
A normal (non-silent) setup receives the necessary input from the user in the form of responses to dialog boxes. A silent setup, however, does not prompt the user for input. A silent setup gets its user input from a different source. That source is the InstallAnywhere Silent Install response file.
A response file contains information similar to what an end user would enter as responses to dialog boxes when running a normal setup. InstallAnywhere Silent Install reads the necessary input from the response file at run time.
A response file is a plain text file consisting of sections containing data entries.
