Task 4: To configure File-AID/EX execution server port number

The execution server port number can be changed from the default that File-AID/EX originally sets, if desired.

To change to a new port:

  1. Open the engine.properties file, which is located by default at \ProgramData\BMC\FAEX\Cfg on Windows, and in the <Installation Directory>/cfg on UNIX.
  2. Change port=4900 to the desired port number.

    Important

Additional information can be found in the engine.properties file.

  3. Save and close the file.
  4. Restart the execution server by performing the following steps::

    1. Make sure that the execution server doesn't execute any specifications.
    2. If the execution server is running as Windows Service, restart the service.
    3. If the execution server is running as a regular Windows process, open the Details tab of Windows Task Manager, select the process and click End Process. Then the execution server can be started again by launching fa_exsrvr.exe from <Intallation Directory>\DME.\
    4. For execution servers running in UNIX, either restart the daemon (if it's running as a daemon), or stop and relaunch the execution server process.

    Important

Failure to first stop the execution server results in having an engine running on both the old port and the new port. This makes it difficult to determine which engine to shut down because there is no port designation to indicate which engine goes with which port.
