Shutting down or restarting local execution server and local communication manager

When a configuration change or a maintenance task needs to be performed for the running execution server and local communication manager, they need to be shut down or restarted. This section provides details on how it can be accomplished.

  1. Make sure there are no active processes running that had been launched in the current environment. If any jobs are running, wait until they are completed.
  2. To restart or shut down the local execution server, from the Tools view’s Administration pane, click execution server Management. The execution server Management dialog box appears.
  3. Check the server’s status. If the server is running, click Stop to stop it, or Restart to stop and then relaunch it.

    Important

The local execution server doesn't typically require a restart as it launches automatically on the first request from the communication manager that requires it.

  4. To shut down the local communication manager, open Task Manager and click the Details tab. Select the process named fa_commgr.exe and click End task. After the communication manager process is terminated, it will relaunch automatically on the first request that requires it.
