Maintain Data Studio

To upgrade Data Studio, follow these steps:

  1. Close all Data Studio client applications, such as Workbench for Eclipse, ConverterPro, and Homebase.
  2. Follow the instructions provided in the section Shutting Down or Restarting Local Execution Server and Local Communication Manager to shut down the local execution server and the Communication manager if they are running.
  3. Use the instructions provided in the Workbench for Eclipse Installation Guide to uninstall, install, or perform a p2 repository update for Workbench for Eclipse.
  4. If Workbench for Eclipse was upgraded from a 19.x version to version 20.02.01 or later via a p2 repository update, execute setfirewall.bat manually. This file is located in the Workbench folder in the install directory.
  5. If using db2 and upgrading from release 20.04.03 or earlier, be sure to update the db2 driver to db2jcc4.jar according to the instructions in the section Add Database Drivers for FAS.

Important

To ensure that existing custom functions work as expected after upgrading Data Studio from versions earlier than 23.01.01, recompile Java classes of the existing custom functions.

A custom function is a Java routine that is used in the appropriate part of the product according to the interface implemented by the Java routine. As Data Studio version 23.01.01 and later no longer supports Java version earlier than v11, Java classes must be recompiled after upgrading Data Studio.

For more information about custom functions, see Manage custom functions.
