File-AID/EX Shared Repositories

A File-AID/EX Shared Repository is a storage area for objects that reside on other client machines or on a server. From shared repositories, users can access objects that are created by other users. Users can access and make changes to these shared objects, but must save them with different names in order to execute the objects. Objects that can be shared include application relationships, selection criteria, comparison specifications, conversion specifications, extract specifications, extract process logs, data privacy templates, and date aging business rules.

Warning

Important

  • For production environments, we recommend that users set up a shared repository in an industry-standard RDMS rather than using the local repository created when File-AID/EX is installed. The local repository is not managed or backed up, and is meant only to provide a starting point for small testing scenarios, not production environments.
  • Together, the database administrator and the repository administrator have the rights to create shared repositories and to maintain the local and shared repositories. The database administrator creates new, shared repositories. The repository administrator runs the Repository Management Utility to delete or change all objects for a specific owner. The repository administrator maintains the local and shared repositories.
  • To create, maintain, and use File-AID/EX repositories, the user must have the following permissions to the database that houses the repositories:
    • DDL: CREATE TABLE/INDEX,ALTER TABLE/INDEX, DROP TABLE/INDEX
    • DML: CRUD on records - INSERT (Create), READ, UPDATE and DELETE

The first time you run File-AID/EX, the node for File-AID/EX Shared Repositories appears. You can then use the Repository Management Utility to perform the following actions:

  • Create a new shared repository.
  • Add a File-AID/EX shared repository.
  • Remove a File-AID/EX shared repository.
  • Set a default repository.
  • Change the password used to connect to the database.

Refer to the File-AID/EX online help for information on local repositories.
