Connection Wizard Record Layout Selection

Use the Flat File Record Layout Selection dialog box to select the file that contains the layout to use for the flat file. ComparePro can read record layouts from either a parsed flat file or a COBOL copybook.

To select the file that contains the layout to use for the flat file

Note

If a record layout definition file does not exist, use the Record Parser to define a new one.

  1. From the initial Data Connection Wizard - Flat File connector window, click Next. The Flat File Record Layout Selection dialog box appears.
  2. From the Derive Record Layout From list, select either COBOL - Flat File Copybook or Parse Flat File.
  3. In the Select File field, enter the complete file name and path to the file containing the layout definition or click Browse to browse to the file.
  4. Click Next to display the Record Parser dialog box to define the proper record and field structure for the data file.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
