Welcome to File-AID/EX

File-AID/EX is a powerful test data management tool that allows data manipulation from a wide range of databases and data types including mainframe data and XML. By using File-AID/EX, you can perform the following data management tasks:

  • Compare data, database structures, text files, flat file or delimited reports/files, XML text or schema files, XML data to relational data, flat files using COBOL layouts, and stored procedures and triggers. For information about comparing data, refer to the ComparePro online help.
  • Convert data at the client or server level, with an easy-to-use wizard, from one source to one target, many sources to one target, one source to many targets, and many sources to many targets. With the Data Generation component of ConverterPro, data can be created with or without external sources to one or more targets. For information about converting data, refer to the ConverterPro online help.
  • Convert and move test data between mainframe and distributed environments. File-AID/EX Enterprise Edition, an optional addition to File-AID/EX, provides access modules for accessing mainframe data on the MVS platform.
  • Define, update, and manage privacy criteria in a common, sharable repository, which after being defined can be applied in the File-AID/EX ConverterPro component. For information about data privacy, refer to the Data Privacy Manager online help.
  • Perform data privacy during the conversion process.
  • Save templates of various connections for reuse.
  • Store specifications in a local or shared repository.

File-AID/EX Software Packages

There are three File-AID/EX software packages:

  • BMC AMI DevX Data StudioClient: BMC AMI DevX Data Studio is a feature pack to Workbench for Eclipse. It includes File-AID/EX client components, communication manager, and local execution server.
  • File-AID/EX Standalone Server: The Server package includes the ability to run the File-AID Execution Server on Windows, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, and Linux. This allows multiple users to execute File-AID/EX specifications from a single engine.
  • File-AID/EX Enterprise Edition: The Enterprise Edition adds the ability to access mainframe data from ConverterPro, ComparePro, and Data Privacy.
