- yyyy/MM/dd
- yy/MM/dd
- yyyy-MM-dd
- yy-MM-dd
- dd/MM/yyyy

Select the desired date format from the drop-down list. Click the button and an example of the date will appear in the box. The format you select will become your default date format.
Default Time Format
Listed below are the existing time formats recognized by ConverterPro.
- HH:mm:ss
- HH:mm:ss:SS -- this format adds milliseconds
- hh:mm:ss a -- this format adds AM or PM after the time
Select the desired time format from the drop-down list. Click the button and an example of the time will appear in the box. The format you select will become your default time format. See caution below.
Default TimeStamp Format
Listed below are the existing TimeStamp formats recognized by ConverterPro. These formats include both the date and time.
- yyyy-MM-dd:HH:mm:ss
- yyyy-MM-dd:HH:mm:ss:SS
- hh:mm:ss a
Select the desired TimeStamp format from the drop-down list. Click the button and an example of the time will appear in the box. The format you select will become your default TimeStamp format.
For the Default Time and Default TimeStamp formats, the capital "HH" designates a 24-hour time period. The lower case "hh" designates a 12-hour time period and is followed by an "a" to add AM or PM after the time. Date/time macros take the format string to format the target appropriately. If the format string is incorrectly coded, your date formats may not appear in the desired format.
New Date and Time Formats
You can design your own format patterns for dates and times from the list of symbols in the following table:
Symbols | Meaning | Presentation | Example |
G | era designator | Text | AD |
y | year | Number | 1996 |
M | month in year | Text & Number | July & 07 |
d | day in month | Number | 10 |
h | hour in am/pm (1-12) | Number | 12 |
H | hour in day (0-23) | Number | 0 |
m | minute in hour | Number | 30 |
s | second in minute | Number | 55 |
S | millisecond | Number | 978 |
E | day in week | Text | Tue Tuesday |
D | day in year | Number | 189 |
F | day of week in month | Number | 2 (2nd Wed in July) |
w | week in year | Number | 27 |
W | week in month | Number | 2 |
a | am/pm marker | Text | PM |
k | hour in day (1-24) | Number | 24 |
K | hour in am/pm (0-11) | Number | 0 |
z | time zone | Text | Pacific Standard Time |
' | escape for text | Delimiter | (none) |
' | single quote | Literal | ' |
The number of symbol letters you specify also determines the format. For example, if the "zz" pattern results in "PDT," then the "zzzz" pattern generates "Pacific Daylight Time." The following table summarizes these rules:
Presentation | Number of Symbols | Result |
Text | 1-3 | abbreviated form if one exists |
Text | >=4 | full form |
Number | minimum number of digits is required | shorter numbers are padded with zeros (for example, if the count of y is 2 for a year, then the year is padded to 2 digits) |
Text and Number | 1-2 | text form |
Text and Number | 3 | number form |
Select or type the desired date, time, and timestamp formats and press the button to verify the result in the field for respective formats. A message appears if you enter an invalid format.
