ConverterPro Introduction
ConverterPro is a conversion facility that lets users copy, convert, and transform data. It executes simple one-to-one conversions with local databases and flat files, as well as complex many-to-many conversions using remote MVS data types or any combination thereof.
A conversion specification in ConverterPro contains information about source and target data and how to relate source fields to target fields. Data can be filtered before executing the conversion specification.
Users can share specifications by using shared repositories.
ConverterPro Feature Summary
The key ConverterPro features are its source-to-target migration, connection, and browsing capabilities.
ConverterPro can migrate data from:
- One source location to one target data location (one-to-one)
- Many different sources into one target data location (many-to-one)
- One source data location into many target data locations (one-to-many)
- Many source data locations into many target data locations (many-to-many)
- Hierarchical sources to hierarchical targets
Once connected and mapped, a data source can still be changed dynamically, facilitating effortless testing against multiple environments.
- ConverterPro enables source and target data browsing.
- Once connected and mapped, a data source can still be changed dynamically facilitating effortless testing against multiple environments.
- The Data Generation Facility provides an easy method for creating meaningful test data with minimal effort and/or technical expertise.
Data Generation provides tens of thousands of unique names, zip codes, area codes, cities, states, and other values via a pre-packaged data library.
Data Generation provides pre-built functions to populate the required data using simple drag and drop.
Flexible data generation architecture allows multiple data targets to be populated in a single pass.
Data Generation maintains referential integrity by propagating generated data using Primary Key/Foreign Key integrity rules. Unique Key values are populated and maintained between related tables.
Data can be generated at the field- or record- level. Specific fields can be populated in a database or any supported data type using Data Generation drag and drop functions.
Data Generation provides automapping heuristic technology to quickly match fields.
Data Generation easily generates distributed and OS/390 data.
Distributed: Oracle, DB2 UDB, MS SQL Server, Sybase, XML, Flat File, MS Access, MS Excel
OS/390 via Enterprise Edition: DB2 UDB for z/OS, VSAM, and QSAM
Additional Features
In addition to the features mentioned above, ConverterPro:
- Creates a reduced working set of non-relational data sources.
- Generates Data Definition Language (DDL) for non-existent targets.
- Processes designated data (due to its distributed architecture) in an efficient and timely manner.
- Handles small to large volumes of data.
- Dynamically invokes conversions from a workstation.
- Runs batch jobs on any Windows or UNIX server.
- Converts, ages, and reformats data using built-in functions. In addition, users can define their own functions and call external functions.
- Enables expressions and validation logic to be specified before/after-read, during mapping, and before/after inserting.
- Defines templates for rules, connections, data definitions and execution servers (for distributed processing).
- Displays a graphical view of the conversion being carried out.
- Provides the ability to specify manual reject handling logic.
- Executes multiple conversions in a batch by creating a conversion set.
