P – Container Prefixes


Container names consist of a prefix and a sequentially assigned number.

Assignment, Release, and Set prefixes can be defined for applications along with the next number to be used with the prefix.

Container Prefixes Definition Screen

The following figure shows a list of Container Prefixes. It is the first screen displayed after entering option P and selecting a version.

General Notes

The Next Number field should never be decreased after containers for this prefix have been created. This would result in an invalid attempt to create a duplicate container.

Field Descriptions

The following table describes each field for a container prefix definition:

Field Name

Description

Container Type

The type of container.

Valid values:

  • A – Assignment
  • R – Release
  • S – Set.

Container Prefix

The name of the prefix. It becomes the first few characters of a container name.

Applid

A valid application code to be associated with this prefix. This may be blank to share a prefix across multiple containers.

Next Number

The next number to be used for a new container. 1 is the usual starting number.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
