This section provides information related to planning to install or update to Code Pipeline 22.01.

Objectives

The following are the objectives of Code Pipeline planning:

  • To assist in the planning stage of a Code Pipeline implementation
  • To manage expectations of the installation process
  • To clarify roles and responsibilities

The following topics are described in this section:

Steps involved

  1. Order Code Pipeline and its companion products, including the latest maintenance, via BMC's Product Ordering web page or by contacting BMC Support.

  2. Read the instructions in this guide (Code Pipeline Installation and Configuration Guide) and complete each of the milestones to:
    1. Ensure companion products have been installed and configured with the latest maintenance and that the license for Code Pipeline has been imported.
    2. Perform the SMP/E installation of Code Pipeline according to the

      BMC Installer Mainframe Products SMP/E Installation

      Guide.
    3. Implement the PARMLIB.
    4. Configure Code Pipeline for either a new installation or an upgrade.
    5. Initiate started tasks and load reference data.
    6. Perform additional configuration for 

      BMC AMI DevX Workbench for Eclipse

      and other features.
    7. Verify product installation.

Milestones and Roles

Installation, configuration, started task initiation, reference data loading, and verification are done in 15 milestones. The rows in the following table identify the role or skill set required to perform each milestone. This makes it easier to know which people need to be involved at each milestone along the way. With the proper planning, you may be able to have certain tasks performed at the same time.

Withdrawal of support

We have previously announced the following:

  • Support for Code Pipeline Release 4.4 was withdrawn on 12/31/18.
  • Support for Code Pipeline Release 17.02 was withdrawn on 6/30/19.
