Db2 Post-Installation Housekeeping
Regular Db2 Housekeeping
BMC recommends that the repository objects undergo a REORG and RUNSTATS at least once a month (depending upon the amount of Code Pipeline activity) and that all packages be rebound afterward. Samples are provided for REORG ($WZDREOG), RUNSTATS ($WZD4RST), and REBIND in the BPWMDJCL library.
Object Resizing
BMC recommends that the number of extents that Db2 Objects extend be closely monitored. As the repository grows, it will become necessary to alter the Primary and Secondary sizes for the Db2 Objects.
Mass Updates
After a lot of update activity (for example, initial conversion into Code Pipeline), BMC recommends that the Regular Db2 Housekeeping process be performed. This will organize the data and re-establish the most efficient access paths. After such a mass update, it may be necessary to resize the Objects.
