Primary menu for Code Debug TSO


The Primary Menu is the first screen displayed upon entry to Code Debug TSO. The options on the Primary Menu are used to prepare the programs for execution, provide all the information needed to execute the program, and invoke the test session. It also provides a gateway to other BMC AMI products. The Primary Menu for Code Debug  is shown in the following figure.

The Primary Menu has the following options:

0 DEFAULTS

Specifies defaults for your terminal, PF keys, profile, and screen colors. See the Specifying Session Defaults.

1 PREPARE

Accesses the Program Preparation Menu where you can:

  • Convert your JCL to compile your programs with the BMC AMI Common Shared Services Assembler language processor.
  • Db2 precompile, compile, link-edit, and EXEC CICS translation.
  • Bind application plans or packages with File-AID for Db2.
  • Create and edit lists of the files and databases that have to be allocated for your program to execute properly.

2 TSO

Invokes an interactive Code Debug TSO and Code Debug IMSdebugging session. See the Starting an Interactive Session.

3 BATCH

Accesses the Batch menu where you can choose Batch Connect or the Multi-Batch Facility to invoke a Code Debug IMS test session in batch that allows you to interactively connect to the batch job for debugging. See the Starting a Batch Connect Session and Starting a Multi-Batch Session.

4 STORED PROC

Invokes a Db2 Stored Procedure debugging session.

5 UTILITIES

Accesses miscellaneous utility functions that can be used to query available region size, list data set allocations, maintain DDIO data sets, and merge profiles from alternate users. See the Code Debug TSO Utilities.

F FADB2

Invokes File-AID for DB2, which is BMC’s powerful and easy to use Db2 database management, application development, and performance analysis tool. See the File-AID for DB2 Reference for information about usingFile-AID for Db2.

FA FILE-AID

Invokes File-AID/MVS. See the File-AID/MVS Online Reference and the File-AID/MVS Batch Reference for information about usingFile-AID/MVS.

FI FILE-AID/IMS

Invokes File-AID for IMS. See the File-AID for IMS/ISPF Reference, the File-AID for IMS/DC/CICS Reference, and the File-AID for IMS/FLEX Reference for information about using File-AID for IMS.

C CODE COVERAGE

Invokes Code Coverage, a product which is only available if you have purchased it. When you run a test using Code Coverage, you are able to track every statement you have executed in the normal work flow while running the test. See  the Code Coverage Mainframe User/Reference Guide for more information about using Code Coverage.

B BULLETIN

Displays a summary of changes for this release. This option is automatically displayed when you first log onto the system. A similar version of this information is contained in the “What’s New” section of the Code Debug TSO and Code Debug IMS Release Notes.

T TUTORIAL

Provides general or specific information about a Code Debug IMS command, screen, or message.

Important

Help can also be accessed by pressing PF1 or entering HELP on the command line of any screen.

Once you are in the Tutorial, you can continue to press Enter to see subsequent pages of help text. The UP, BACK, NEXT, INDEX, and HELP subcommands can be used to quickly locate a particular topic.

Use the END command to terminate the HELP function.

X EXIT

Exits Code Debug IMS.

Profile

Specifies the current profile. See Using Profiles.
