Overview of the enhancements

This section describes the following enhancements.

  • We have imporved PL/I support.
  • We have added support for:

    1. Usage of BASED variables with the ALLOCATE statement
    2. Usage of an array element used as a base pointer
    3. Usage of a locator used in a base pointer
  • To run an interactive test in Xpediter TSO, you need to define language libraries, like CEE.SCEERUN. You can now have Xpediter scan the LINKLIST for the language environment modules. You can add two new parameters to your Parmlib to enable this (after applying the corresponding PTF as listed in the subsequent table):

    • The first parameter option is specifically for Language Environment (LE) modules. This new option can be enabled either through the new run-time parameter CTLOPTB1=YES in your Parmlib or through an initial script with the command SET LELNKLST ON, as the default for this option is OFF. The Xpediter installer can put the parameter option in a common Parmlib for everyone to use.
    • The second parameter option is for everything else. This option can be enabled through the new run-time parameter CTLOPTA1=YES or through the SET command SET LNKLST ON. The SET command for this option can be executed in an initial script or can be enabled in a debug session. Enabling this option will allow Xpediter to load modules from the LINKLIST. You can execute the LOAD command on modules that do not exist within your setup, if the module you are trying to load exists within a LINKLIST library. This would also apply to load modules that are dynamically called when debugging, if a module is dynamically called and not statically linked and also not included in the user’s setup libraries. In such case, Xpediter can search the LINKLIST libraries and load it from there to make use of it.
