Installing and configuring Enterprise Common Components

Abend-AID operation requires the Enterprise Common Components (ECC), which are provided on separate installation media from the Abend-AID product. ECC has its own installation procedure, which you perform in conjunction with the Abend-AID installation. Review the ECC installation documentation before installing or upgrading Abend-AID.

Abend-AID Release 17.02 requires the following ECC 17.02 software with all current maintenance applied:

  • BMC AMI Common Shared Services (CSS) 17.02 or more current
  • BMC AMI License Management System (LMS) 17.02 or more current
  • BMC AMI Host Communications Interface (HCI) 17.02 or more current
  • BMC AMI Base Services 17.02 or more current
  • BMC Common Mainframe Services Controller (CMSC) 17.02 or more current

Note

With Release 16.05, in order to simplify Enterprise Common Components (ECC) SMP/E installation, Base Services, CSS, LMS, HCI, and CMSC modules are now installed as a single ECC FMID. These components have been consolidated into the SLCXxxxx libraries. If you are upgrading to Abend-AID Release 17.02, ensure that you change all references to the old BMC AMI HCI libraries (SLHCAUTH and SLHCLOAD) to the ECC 17.02 libraries (SLCXAUTH and SLCXLOAD) in your installation JCL, especially viewing server JCL when it is converted to 17.02.

Note

Whether you are installing for the first time or upgrading Abend-AID, install ECC 17.02 with all current maintenance applied and ensure the following:

  • That the ECC target authorized library SLCXAUTH is APF-authorized.
  • That module MSCUDDCL, which is required for Abend-AID Viewer access, is contained in the ECC SLCXLOAD target nonauthorized load library.

Note

If you plan to implement the CMSC Simple Deploy method for specifying BMC product DDNAMES and data set names in Abend-AID CLISTs and REXX EXECs, refer to the Release 17.02 Enterprise Common Components Installation and Configuration Guide for more information. Verify that the default data set names defined in the ECC SLCXCNTL library member DDSNnnnn are correct for your site or change them to conform to your site’s standards. If you make changes to the DDSNnnnn member, use the z/OS MODIFY (F) command to update the CMSC with the DDSNnnnn member you edited or ask your CMSC administrator to do so.

The ECC administrator/installer is required for this milestone.

Tasks

Complete the following tasks to install/upgrade Enterprise Common Components (ECC).

Task 1: Install/Upgrade Enterprise Common Components

Enterprise Common Components (ECC) 17.02 or more current with all current maintenance applied must be installed and configured to support Abend-AID 17.02. Refer to the Enterprise Common Components Installation and Configuration Guidefor instructions on configuring ECC for use with Abend-AID and/or Abend-AID for CICS.

Task 2: APF-authorize the ECC library

Ensure that the ECC target authorized library hlq.SLCXAUTH has been APF-authorized.

Task 3: Apply ECC maintenance

Apply the latest maintenance to ECC 17.02.

Task 4: Import Abend-AID license

When you receive your Abend-AID product, you also receive a license key for it. Import your Abend-AID license into the BMC AMI License Management System.
