Install Abend-AID using SMP/E

SMP/E installation

Abend-AID and Abend-AID for CICS are installed using System Modification Program Extended (SMP/E). All BMC SMP/E installations are now done through the BMC Installer to generate your site’s installation JCL. The RFN process enables you to receive the products directly to your z/OS environment and install them using SMP/E.

After you select a licensed product from BMC online ordering system, you will receive an email message containing sample JCL for creating a BMC Installer dialog box PDS, which has been customized for your order.

Documentation for using the BMC Installer to install one or more licensed Abend-AID components (Abend-AID, Abend-AID for CICS, and Abend-AID Common Components) is provided in the BMC Installer Mainframe Products SMP/E Installation Guide PDF document included with your order email. The email may also contain links for downloading any PC-based products that may have been ordered at the same time.

Alternatively, if for some reason you can’t do an RFN installation at your site and you ordered the Abend-AID EP media interface, you can obtain a copy of this space in the ECC documentation section. The BMC Installer space also contains information for using the EP physical media to SMP/E install the Abend-AID components.

The following Roles are required for this milestone:

  • Abend-AID installer
  • Abend-AID for CICS installer
  • z/OS system programmer
  • CICS system programmer

FMIDs

The complete RFN installation using SMP/E for Abend-AID Release 17.02 consists of the following three product components:

  • Batch Abend-AID, FMID: MPAA170
  • Abend-AID for CICS, FMID: MKFX171
    • Support for CICS Transaction Server 6.2, FMID: NKFX17D
    • Support for CICS Transaction Server 6.1, FMID: NKFX17C
    • Support for CICS Transaction Server 5.6, FMID: NKFX17B
    • Support for CICS Transaction Server 5.5, FMID: NKFX17A
    • Support for CICS Transaction Server 5.4, FMID: NKFX179
  • Abend-AID Common Components, FMID: MKAZ170

If your site is licensed, you may install batch Abend-AID or Abend-AID for CICS or both, and Abend-AID Common Components is required for use with either.

Note

If you are installing Abend-AID for CICS with support for more than one release of CICS, which may include releases your site is planning to install in the future, we recommend installing them simultaneously.

Tasks

Perform the following tasks to SMP/E-install Abend-AID and/or Abend-AID for CICS.

Task 2.1: Follow the BMC Installer guide

  1. Follow the instructions in the BMC Installer Mainframe Products SMP/E Installation Guide to install Abend-AID and/or Abend-AID for CICS.
  2. Ensure that you apply the latest maintenance to Abend-AID Release 17.02.

Task 2.2: APF-authorize the Abend-AID libraries

APF-authorize the following Abend-AID libraries:

  • hlq.SKAZAUTH — Abend-AID Common components target authorized library
  • hlq.SKFXAUTH — Abend-AID target authorized library
  • hlq.SPAAAUTH — Batch Abend-AID target authorized library

Task 2.3: Create the installation sample library (hlq.CTL)

Do one of the following:

  • Review and submit sample job $10CPYAC created during the SMP/E Installation of Abend-AID using the RFN procedure. This job creates a copy of the Abend-AID Common Components sample library (SKAZSAMP) that was originally created using the BMC Installer dialog box. The copied data set is used for Abend-AID Configuration and Customization. Make a note of this data set name, which we recommends you name hlq.CTL, where hlq is the high-level qualifier you specified for Abend-AID Common Components using the BMC Installer or some other high-level qualifier that meets your site’s standards.
  • If you did not use the BMC Installer and instead used the GUI interface (media browser) to generate and submit the SMP/E installation jobs, sample job $10CPYAC is not created. You will need to copy the Abend-AID Common Components sample library (hlq.MKAZ170.F1) to a working data set, which we recommends you name hlq.CTL, where hlq is the high-level qualifier you specified for Abend-AID Common Components using the media browser or some other high-level qualifier that meets your site’s standards.

Once completed, follow the steps in this space to configure or update and deploy Abend-AID and/or Abend-AID for CICS.
