Setting Up HCI journaling in the viewing server

If BMC Customer Solutions requests that you set up Host Communications Interface (HCI) journaling in the Abend-AID viewing server to collect HCI diagnostic information, do the following:

  1. Use the HCI_JRNMASK=FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF on HCI_JRNMASK=0000000000000000 available in Viewing-Server-PARMLIB-Member-AAVWALL-parameters (or other value as directed by BMC Support) Abend-AID viewing server configuration parameter to define the mask.

  2. Add this parameter to your Abend-AID viewing server AAVWxxxx PARMLIB.
  3. Refresh the AAVWxxxx member to effect this change:

    F cmscname,PARMLIB REFRESH member_name

    Important

Whenever you modify an existing CMSC PARMLIB member or add a new member, you must execute the CMSC REFRESH command to update the contents of the CMSC cache.

  4. Run sample job HCIJOURN from the Enterprise Common Components installation library hlq.SLCXCNTL to create the journal data sets.
  1. Add the journal data sets to the //JOURNAL1, //JOURNAL2, and //JOURNAL3 DD statements under the FDBMMPLU EXEC statement in the Abend-AID viewing server JCL.
  2. Stop and restart the Abend-AID viewing server.
  3. When the diagnostic information has been collected, remove the changes from the Abend-AID viewing server JCL.

Refer to the Enterprise Common Components Advanced Configuration for more information about HCI journals.
