Managing Workbench team profiles

This topic describes how to manage Workbench team profiles that have been uploaded to CES. To do this, you must have BMC AMI DevX Workbench for Eclipse installed.

Important

You must use Workbench for Eclipse to add Workbench for Eclipse projects. You cannot add these projects through CES. When a Workbench Team Profile is added in Workbench for Eclipse, it will automatically appear on the BMC AMI DevX Workbench Teams Profiles page for those with permission to view it.

The following security roles are associated with Workbench team profiles, if security is enabled:

  • Workbench Team Profile Administrators can view, add, edit, and delete profiles assigned to any groups.
  • Workbench Team Profile Exporters can export team profiles to groups of which they are members. They can edit a profile only of groups they are a member or if the profile is not associated with any groups.
  • For other users, the page is in read-only mode, and the Description field and Groups section are unavailable.

On the BMC AMI DevX Workbench Teams Profiles page, you can view the Workbench team profiles that have been uploaded to CES. The Group column and corresponding values for a team profile appear only when Enable authentication and Require authentication - Workbench user are enabled (under Administration > Security settings > Security).

On the UI, you can move a column, refresh the table, delete one or more row entries, search and filter the values in the table, and choose how many records you want to view in the table. For more information about these actions, see Common-UI-actions.

Editing a Workbench team profile

When you click the title of the team profile, the Team profile details dialog box displays the details specific to that team profile.

Perform one of the following actions (if you have the necessary privileges) and click Save:

  • Change the name of the team profile in the Description text field at the top of the page.
  • View the tree structure of the team profile, such as the associated Projects and Working sets, based on data derived from Workbench for Eclipse.
  • Use the toggle switch in the Groups section to associate a team profile with a group. This section is visible only when Enable authentication and Require authentication - Workbench user are enabled (under Administration > Security settings > Security).
  • Change the group with which a team profile is associated by switching the toggle key for the groups in the Groups section.
  • Download the Workbench team profile details as a zip file by clicking Export. The zip file contains files and details in the tree structure as applicable for that profile.
  • If you have modified the profile details in the backend, update and reload the tree structure in the UI by clicking Refresh.

Important

  • If security is enabled, the following conditions apply:
    • Workbench Team Profile Administrators can edit all profiles.
    • Workbench Team Profile Exporters can only edit a profile if they are either a member of all groups associated with that profile, or if the profile is not associated with any groups.
  • If the user does not meet one of these criteria, the page will be in read-only mode. In read-only mode, the Description field and the Group section with the toggle switches are disabled and unavailable.
