Using a host connection to access BMC AMI mainframe products

When you access a BMC AMI web product via CES, you must be connected to the corresponding BMC AMI mainframe product. In some cases, you must use the BMC's Host Communications Interface (HCI) to log on and establish connection with the mainframe product.

If the HCI is not configured and you try to access Code Pipeline web, the UI prompts you to configure the HCI. Perform the following steps:

  1. In the Host connection login window, select one of the host connections, which are configured by a CES administrator.
  2. Specify the Authentication method by which the connection to the mainframe product must be identified and validated.
(If you are running CES on z/OS UNIX) You can select PassTicket as the authentication method to authenticate the user. A PassTicket is generated based on an application ID (APPLID) and a User ID.
(If you selected the HTTPS port in the Web server settings in CES) You can select Client certificate as your authentication method.
  3. (If you are configuring HCI for Code Pipeline Web) Specify the relevant Runtime configuration.
  4. Based on the authentication mode selected, specify your login credentials:
    • (If you selected User ID/Password in Authentication) Enter your TSO login credentials in User name and Password. To change your TSO password after the first login, expand Change password, enter the new password, and confirm it too.
    • (If you selected PassTicket in Authentication) Enter your TSO user ID in User name.

      Important

Make sure that you specify the correct TSO password. You can make three consecutive attempts to enter the correct password. If you enter the wrong password all three times, your user ID is revoked.

  5. Click Login. If the login is successful, the UI refreshes and displays the Approvals page.
  6. If you click Cancel, you are redirected to the CES home page.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
