Common UI actions

When you navigate to any UI in CES, the UI displays options that you can use to perform actions.

Some UI options might differ based on the feature that you are using.

Options that you select and values that you specify might be retained under some instances and discarded in other circumstances. For more information, see State management in CES.

The following table describes the common UI options that you can see and use across the CES UIs. Options unique to a feature are described within the feature-specific topics.

Sort the order in a column

Sort the order in multiple columns

Perform the following steps:

  1. Click SortArrow.pngin the column header in a column.
  2. To select more columns, perform one of the following options:
    • Press the Ctrl (or Command) key and click the sort arrow in the required column headers.
    • Click 3-dots.pngin the required column headers.
  3. For each selected column, go to the 3-dots.pngmenu, select Ascending or Descending, and select a Sort order.
When you select a sort order, the column header displays a number to indicate the priority of the column in the sort sequence. The direction of the sort arrow indicates if the column is sorted in the ascending or descending order.

Thus, the table displays values sorted by column, one after the other, such that the previous sort order is not distorted by the next sort order.

From the 3-dots.pngoptions, you can also perform the following actions:

  • Change or swap the Sort order as required.
  • Remove a column from the multi-sort sequence by selecting Remove from current sort.
  • Remove all sorting by selecting Clear all sorting.

Select the number of records visible on the page

Click Records per page at the bottom of the table and select a number.

State management in the CES UI

When you reorder columns, resize the columns, sort values within a table, choose columns to view or hide (if available), specify filter criteria, choose the number of records you want to view in a table, or choose to view a page (pagination), the selections persist on the UI.

However, your selections do not persist in the following scenarios:

  • When you log on to CES with your user credentials in one web browser, switch to another web browser and again log on to CES with the same credentials

    Example

Consider that you log on to CES by using Google Chrome and then switch to Mozilla Firefox to log on to CES with the same credentials. In this case, the selections are not retained.

  • When you log on to CES with your user credentials in one web browser, and then open another web browser in incognito mode and again log on to CES with the same credentials
  • When you log on to CES as a guest user and switch browsers
  • When you log on to CES with your user credentials and log out, and then log on to the same CES instance by using another user account
