Using the full recovery method
You use the full recovery method when a database is damaged by a hardware, software, or application error.
During full recovery, the Recovery utility uses any combination of three input types:
- image copy data set (required)
- change accumulation data set (optional)
- system or recovery log data set(s) (optional)
Concurrently with the recovery process, the Recovery utility can produce up to 10 image copies of the recovered database. The additional copies can be registered in the RMGR repository through the Recovery Extensions feature. The utility can also invoke the Concurrent Pointer Checking feature for full-function databases and DEDBs if the feature is available.
