DFSMSdss restore processing

To restore a T0 copy, the Recovery utility invokes the IBM DFSMSdss ADRDSSU utility.

Then, the Recovery utility performs a roll-forward recovery that applies any required change accumulation and log records. When recovering to alternate data set names, the Recovery utility builds the DFSMSdss RENAMEU parameter as follows:

  • The first value is the original data set name, which the utility obtains from DBRC, the MDALIB, or the JCL.
  • The second value is the new data set name. The utility builds this name from the value of the required T0NWNAME keyword that you specified in the Recovery utility control statements.
Warning

Important

Because RENAMEU cannot accept a preexisting name for the new data set, the T0NWNAME keyword is required; you cannot specify the new data set name in the JCL.
