Space announcement We are no longer updating this space, and you cannot comment on this space. The RECOVERY PLUS for IMS component is now documented in BMC AMI Backup and Recovery for IMS.

RDRS keyword

You can use the RDRS keyword to specify the number of log reader tasks to create and the unit name of each reader.

You must specify DBRC(Y) and DSALLOC(Y) when you use the RDRS keyword.

Uses

Global options module. Optional on the following control statements:

  • GLBL
  • LOG

Related keywords

Refer also to the following keywords:

  • DBRC
  • DSALLOC
  • RDRALLOC

Syntax

  • RDRS(nn)
  • RDRS(,unitname1,unitname2,...)
  • RDRS(nn,unitname1,unitname2,...)

Values

Specify one of the following values:

  • Use RDRS(nn) on the GLBL or LOG control statement to specify the number of reader tasks that are created to read log input. A value greater than 1 allows the Recovery utility to concurrently read multiple logs.
  • Use RDRS(,unitname1, unitname2,...) on the LOG control statement to specify the unit names for each reader task. Unit names can be either generic or specific device addresses. Unit names in excess of the number of readers are ignored. The Recovery utility overrides any previous setting of the unit name from DBRC, the system catalog, the DSUNIT keyword, or the Unit Name user exit.
  • Use RDRS(nn, unitname1, unitname2,...) on the LOG control statement when you specify both subparameters.
Warning

If you must combine logs created using DBRC(Y) with logs created using DBRC(N), do not use multiple readers. Use a single reader to ensure proper processing.

Default

  • nn
  • RDRS(1)
  • unitname No default value
