RDRALLOC keyword
The RDRALLOC keyword controls whether the utility forces allocation of a device for each input tape log rather than minimizes tape drive allocation by reusing the same allocation for multiple logs of the same device type.
You might want to specify RDRALLOC(Y) in the following situation:
- Dissimilar tape devices are defined with the same name in the environment.
- A software package, such as SMS, is expected to associate log data sets with the correct devices.
- You receive an error, such as message IEC147I 613-1C, that indicates a misdirected allocation.
Specifying RDRALLOC(Y) increases the possibility of wait situations during device allocation.
