LIMIT keyword

Use the LIMIT keyword to specify the maximum number of generation data sets (GDSs) to be associated with the GDG to be created.

Syntax

LIMIT(value)

Values

The value depends on whether the GDG base is defined as extended or not.

  • If EXTENDED is set to Y, the value can be from 1 through 999.
  • If EXTENDED is set to N, the value can be from 1 through 255.

Default

255 or 999 depending on whether the GDG base is extended format or non-extended.
