DIRECT keyword

Use the DIRECT keyword to control whether the Recovery utility passes log and change accumulation data directly to the recovery tasks or whether it writes this data to extract data sets for later processing.

Syntax

DIRECT(value)

Values

Specify one of the following values:

  • Y—Pass log and change accumulation data buffers directly to the recovery tasks. If no extract data sets are provided, DIRECT(Y) is forced.
  • N—Write log data to log extract data sets (if provided). Write change accumulation (CA) data to CA extract data sets (if provided).

Default

DIRECT(Y)

DIRECT(N) if the job step is being restarted (with the Automatic Restart feature) and the Recovery utility is creating extract data sets.
