In addition to an information-only field, the Profile Management panel contains specification fields and a selection list.

Specification fields on the Profile Management panel

Use the specification fields in the upper portion of the panel for the following tasks:

  • Display a list of profiles
  • Create a new profile

Note

Before you start to create a new profile, you can display a list of existing profiles to determine whether the profile name you want to use already exists and to find the name of an existing profile to use as a model. You can enter a different profile name to change the list of profiles at any time.

Provide information about the profile (or profiles) you want to work with as follows. Then press Enter.

Field

Description

Profile name

Specify a fully qualified or generic profile name as follows:

  • To display a list of profiles that match a pattern, type a generic name containing asterisk (*) and question mark (?) masking characters as appropriate. You can display a list of all profiles that are defined to RMGR by typing an asterisk (*) by itself. For more information, see Using-pattern-masking.
  • To create a new profile, type a fully qualified name (containing no masking characters) that does not already exist. The name can be 1 to 25 characters and can contain any characters except single quote marks, double quote marks, commas, question marks, and asterisks; for example, blanks, slashes, and dashes are accepted.

Model profile

If you are creating a new profile, you can type the fully qualified name (containing no masking characters) of a profile to use as a model.

If you provide a model profile name, RMGR copies the contents from the model profile. If you omit the model profile name, RMGR creates a new blank profile.

Selection list on the Profile Management panel

If you enter a generic profile name or a specific profile name that already exists, the Profile Management panel is redisplayed with a list of existing profiles that matched the entered name.

Use the selection list to select one or more profiles for the following tasks:

  • Display and modify the contents of the profile
  • Delete the profile

The selection list contains the following fields:

Field

Description

Act

Type one of the following action codes on the row for the profile you want to select, and press Enter:

Warning

Deletion of a profile may cause a problem if any groups or objects are associated with the profile. You must update the definitions of these groups and objects to remove the deleted profile.

Profile Name

This information-only field contains the name of the profile.
