Phase 1 — Prepare for application recovery

This section describes the first--and most complex and important--phase of application recovery: preparation.

With proper preparation, application recovery is a simple matter of evaluating the situation and performing the procedures to use the elements you have already created and verified. Without proper preparation, application recovery may still be successful, but it may be a longer and more difficult process.

The preparation phase consists of the following procedures:

  1. Evaluate-recovery-options
  2. Establishing-and-validating-RMGR-groups
  3. Choose-or-create-profiles
  4. Check-recovery-assets
  5. Use Recovery Advisor
  6. Maintaining-IDCAMS-database-allocation-statements
  7. Create-recovery-points-and-synchronize-log-switches
  8. Perform-practice-recoveries

Note

The preparation procedures in this section suggest ways that RMGR can make recoveries faster, easier, and more successful in your environment. If you are facing a real recovery situation without having performed these procedures, RMGR can still help you; turn directly to Phase 2—Perform application recovery.
