Handling problems
The following resources may help you diagnose and solve a problem with RMGR or determine when you need assistance:
- The RMGR ISPF interface contains complete information about panels and fields. Issue the HELP command in the ISPF interface to obtain this information.
- For BMC error messages that are generated through the RMGR ISPF interface, two levels of Help are provided: extended Help and full message information. When an error message is displayed, you can issue the HELP command (usually assigned to F1) to display extended message text. If you issue the HELP command again, the full message information is displayed (including the explanation, system action, and user response).
- Access the BMC Documentation Center from the BMC Support Central site (http://www.bmc.com/support) for message explanations. The Documentation Center provides information about the reason why the messages were issued and the actions you should take in response. This information helps BMC diagnose and correct a problem as quickly as possible. Please gather the requested information before you contact BMC.
- Information about contacting BMC Customer Support is listed at the front of this section and in the RMGR ISPF interface (select option A (About) on the Recovery Manager Primary Menu panel).
- Abbreviated dumps do not provide the type of information that is needed for problem resolution. To ensure that any dump produced is complete, RMGR dynamically allocates the ABNLIGNR DD statement for the following types of jobs:
- Batch Interface (IRMBATCH) utility
- IMS Command utility
- RMGR started task or job
- Disaster Recovery RECON Cleanup (DRRCN) utility
- Automatic Delete/Define (DRAMS) utility
The ABNLIGNR DD statement turns off the Abend-AID product.
